Lighter = Faster, Right?

Not always, and regardless of your point of view, THIS is a thought provoking piece with thoughts written by Dave Moulton but in a response to Jan Heine’s original piece on this (at times) controversial subject. Take a look. The last sentence demonstrates Moulton’s opinion to a tee:

“Although always it is the rider, not the bike that is faster; it seems highly probable that some bikes make better use of the rider’s output, and may even cause the rider to increase his output.”

I love the introspect of frame building as well – how heat can dictate how a steel frame performs.

Gotta love steel.

  1. Interesting.. Informative.. Thought provoking.. (will share this with my “weight-weenie” son.. LoL)
